ME [Myalgic Encephalomyelitis] is a debilitating condition that affects both physical and cognitive ability. Symptoms vary between patients and the severity can vary from day to day, even hour to hour. The underlying symptoms, notably chronic fatigue, do not improve with rest and are made worse with any physical or mental activity.
Medical opinion is divided on the subject of ME and, even with a sympathetic physician, there is very little that conventional -- or, indeed, alternative -- medicine can do. In short, no one knows what causes it or how to treat it.
I have lived with ME for twelve years; housebound for most of that time. These pages offer a little information about the illness itself and my thought on how to live with it. There are also some links to other, more detailed, resources on the net.
This site contains my personal opinions and should not be used for self-diagnosis. I hate to admit it but, if you think you have ME, you need to see a Doctor. Just don't expect too much!
