I really enjoy creating web sites (as you might have noticed!) and don't think too much about any financial possibilities when I start on them.   That said, the sites have to pay their way; I can't afford to pay for the hosting, etc otherwise.     Adsense has been a great boon and I use it on many of my sites.     It's easy to set up and the ads can be integrated in to the site without too much work.    I don't make very much money with these ads (I doubt most people do, despite what those "internet gurus" say) but Adsense does mean that I can keep developing new info sites without having to worry about their costs.
