This site has reviews and recommendations for classic Doctor Who DVDs.

Many of the serials from the original Doctor Who have been released on DVD and they have some great extras on the discs too. Being a life-long Doctor Who fan and a big fan of the new-Who, I decided to treat myself to a couple of Doctor Who DVDs each month and wallow in nostalgia.

A look at the lists on Amazon and a post to Ask MeFi, gave me a long list of DVDs that I really want to see. I'd already bought The Five Doctors and the two most often recommended serials were The Talons Of Weng Chiang and Earthshock so I started with them. I'll be buying two or three serials a month and will add reviews and recommendations as soon as I've watched them.

I started out with the intention of sticking to short, factual reviews of the quality of the serial and the extras on the disc(s). That's changed a little; sarcasm has slipped in to the void and most of the entries now have a Spoilers section before the review. This section is a light-hearted and affectionate synopsis of the story itself. If you haven't seen the serial or you take Doctor Who very seriously, you might want to skip that bit.

What's New?

15/11/08 Remembrance Of The Daleks, the final serial from the Davros Collection, including a bit about the additional discs in the collection. Next up is either the Lost In Time set or Survival.

30/10/08 Revelation Of The Daleks, the fourth serial from the Davros Collection. I'll watch the final serial, Remembrance Of The Daleks next month, along with the DVD documentary, then add a page reviewing the collection as a whole.

23/10/08 Resurrection Of The Daleks, the third serial from the Davros Collection. I hope to watch Revelation before the end of the month.

29/09/08 Destiny Of The Daleks, the second serial from the Davros Collection. More Davros next month with Resurrection, Revelation and Remembrance.

16/09/08 The first of the Davros Collection serials, Genesis Of The Daleks reviewed. It's going to take me a couple of months to get through this box set.

26/08/08 The third and final of August's reviews, The Three Doctors. September will be dedicated to Davros with the Davros Collection to get through.

12/08/08 Added a review of the William Hartnell serial, The Time Meddler.

28/07/08 A headstart on August's DVDs with The Mark Of The Rani. There will be reviews of The Time Meddler and The Three Doctors later in August.
